Part 3

   Five characteristics of life

Direction: is where the light is coming from for example the sides , front and back .


Intensity: how bright is the subject or the picture .

Color: what color is the light in the picture pink , red ?


Contrast: what kind of transition was used when going from highlights to shadows .


Hardness:
  • What do the edges of the shadows look like? how hard are they ?

Part 2

Fill light -   Reduces the contrast

Key light (main light) - It highlights the form and the dimension of the subject 

Hair light - It lights up the hair 

Background light - illuminates the background of the subject 

Shadowless - The power of shadows is in their potential to reveal as well as to conceal.Hard light - Hard light creates shadows with a sharp edgeSoft light

Grey card - s a flat object of a neutral gray color that derives from a flat reflectance spectrum 

Reflector - is a way to reflect the light on the subject but not directly

Diffuser - A Translucent material placed in front of a Light to soften Highlights and Shadows, reduce Contrast and increase Beam Angle.

Intensity (Strength, or how to set shutter speed and aperture's appropriate to portraits)

3:1 lighting ratio - it makes the entire photograph easier to see,

The 5 basic lighting Techniques 


Butterfly ( or paramount )

1. What effect does it create ?
It creates a shadow underneath the nose 
2. Why use it ?
To create shadows 
3. How many lights or light sources ?
You only need one 

loop

It creates a shadow caused by the nose
2. Why use it ?
 when u want a simple subtle shadow

Rembrandt 

1. What effect does it create ?
Creates a triangle on the cheek 
2. Why use it ?
To create a soft shadow

Split 

1. What effect does it create ?
 Their is more light focused in half of the face 
2. Why use it ?
to light up half of face

Broad and Short 

1. What effect does it create ?
It creates a more exposed side of the face facing toward the camera

It helps to focus more on the part of the face that is lit

  3. Describe the lighting: the sun creates a type of lighting that illuminates the subject in a way that makes you look at the redish color that the light creates .

4. Explain what work photographer have to do to capture this image?
he had to be really close to the tornado and capture a good frizzing motion of the action .

2. i would say its a balance image since the subject is in the middle of the magazine .


3. Describe the lighting: It looks like they used studio lighting because on the way that the light reflects and the clarity . It looks like the studio lighting helped by having a more professional , perfect picture .

Nice angle and good posing , he/ she had to capture a good lighting in the eyes and the face .

2.  I would say simplicity and a bit of balance since the dolphin and the boat balance each other in a way .

3. Their is not much lighting going on is basically just foggy which makes the background blur and just the black color of the dolphin and the boat stand out .

4.  A fast flash and a freezing motion to capture the image .

3. Describe the lighting: The lighting is mostly focused on the eiffel tower which reflects the water and the lights in the background .
4. The  photographer had to be a bit far away from the subject and catch a good balance of the eiffel tower .

4. the photographer had to stand in the rain and had to had a really good shutter speed which will show the rain in a really frizzed motion .

3. Describe the lighting: The lighting is really interesting because it is coming from the back of the eiffel tower which lights up the right side of the sky . 


4. he had to be in a nice spot to catch  the eiffel tower between the people that are looking at it  which made it even more interesting .
